OUR IMPACT
"Social media is critical to the development and promotion of service learning programs. Besides capturing experiences for recollection, social media has the potential to attract interest and ultimately, logistical and monetary support. It is important to see who is involved, what type of work they do, where volunteers would be working and why the work is important to the specific host community. Prior to joining the Global Brigades, I had never participated in a service learning program abroad, and had rarely traveled outside of the U.S. Backpod greatly contributed to my decision because they were able to visually capture aspects of the trip that could not be depicted by text. Of course someone could make the claim that "the children were happy when the volunteers finished the project," but being able to see the "happy children" embrace the volunteers has a much greater impact upon prospective supporters." - Jimmy Taitano Camacho, Global Water Brigades Volunteer
